If you’re actively looking for a job in tech, you’ve probably seen those too-good-to-be-true listings online. Whether it’s LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups, or Telegram channels, fake job posts are everywhere—and they’re getting more creative.
Last month, a fresh graduate approached us, excited about a ₹60,000/month remote job offer from a “digital marketing tech firm.” The red flag? They asked him to pay ₹999 as an “onboarding fee.”
This is not a one-off case.
What Are These Fake Job Posts?
These are listings or messages by people pretending to be HRs or recruiters. They promise dream roles with great pay but their goal is either:
- To steal your data
- To make you pay for training kits
- Or to build fake traction for their company
How You Can Spot One:
- No company domain in email (e.g., xyz@gmail.com)
- Interviews on WhatsApp only, no video or HR calls
- They ask you to pay to secure the job
- Profiles of the “HR” look very generic—sometimes even with model-like photos or stock images
What You Should Do:
- Always verify the company. A quick Google or LinkedIn search helps.
- Ask for a company website or registration proof.
- Don’t pay anything for a job. Ever.
We at Wearl Technologies believe the IT community should build each other up—not trick people chasing their first break. Stay alert and always verify before saying yes.
Tip: Save your time—read reviews, and connect with people who’ve worked at the company before accepting any offer.
